Rye Harbour NNR

Took a morning trip down to Rye with the macro a couple of weekends ago. Hoping to catch some chilled damselflies but it was warm even at 4:30! The edges of the lake were alive with Blue-tailed Damselflies so I got some shots of them warming up in the sun.

I Reed Bunting was singly closely so I switched lens but it flew off before I could get close enough, although I managed a shot of this cormorant as a consolation. The photo almost ended up in the recycle bin, but an idea and some nifty Lightroom work saved it.

It was getting hot very bright so I headed back relatively early as I forgot the sun cream, but a large swarm of caterpillars caught my eye munching away on some nettles, so I stopped for a few shots of individuals.
